Students Together
Manvers Street Baptist Church
Bath

Welcome to Manvers Street Baptist Church - we are glad to have you with us and hope you enjoy your time with us.

We have been enjoying the company of students for many years especially from different parts of the world. We like to involve students in the life of the church as much as possible and hope you will feel part of what we do as a church.

We meet twice on a Sunday.
10.30 am - is a time for worship, learning from the bible and prayer for the world and each other. It is usually led by the minister, John Rackley. This Autumn he is starting a series called
KNOWING JESUS. He wants to share with us a clear understanding of what Jesus did and said and why his death and resurrection reveals God's love for us. John will send you the text of his sermon if you ask for it.
6.30pm - is informal and includes a service when we pray for healing, meetings when we hear what Christians are doing to make a difference to our society and we discuss how we connect God and life.

finding a church

It may be that you are new to Bath (or new to church) and will be looking around to find a church that suits you. This is an important decision. You should visit a number of churches. Always try to look beyond what you first think about what you hear and see.Consider these questions and the answers will guide you to where you should join in

  • Will this place help me find out more about God and what it means to be a Christian?
  • Will I be able to make contribution here?
  • Is this where I can be at home for the time I am in Bath?

Then just start and find what the church you join can offer you. We will be glad to help you.

getting involved

When you feel that this is the church for you we will be really pleased when you want to get involved in what happens at this church.

Here are some of the opportunities for joining in:

Childrens' Work - each Sunday morning we have Jesus Team and Sunday Club for people aged 4 -14. If you enjoy working with children, colouring, gluing then this is for you. Our Child Protection policy requires all volunteers to be checked for suitability.
Catering - we serve refreshments after the morning service. Helping with this once in a while is simple and a great way to meet people.
Music - if you play and instrument you may like to join the Music group and we are always glad to hear a recital on the piano during the service.
Coffee Shop - each day of the week the Church Coffee Shop is open and is always looking for customers and volunteers
Faith Sharing and House Groups - we have three groups who meet on different days and locations in the city. There is aslo Film and Book evenings. There is a separate pamphlet about this.
