Manvers Street Baptist Church Website Minister and Staff

John Rackley is responsible for the development our worship, evangelism, nurture of new Christians and has oversight of our pastoral care. As pastor his priorities are people who are unwell, recent arrivals to our church and people who are being challenged by what they are experiencing

At present he is preparing a series called the Way of Justice for Church in the Centre in March.
Together with other members he is writing a study guide on Baptist Spirituality for the Baptist Times.
His morning services throughout the coming year will be focussing on the importance and relevance of the Old Testament.
Beyond these traditional roles of the Baptist Pastor he is very concerned for the future of the Church in the city centre. He longs for more people to hear God's call to become part His mission to the centre of Bath. It is a Mission that goes beyond the immediate needs of the congregation.
In the future he aims to set up Spirituality & Faith centre here, build on the positive relationship we have with the leader of the nearby Islamic centre and develop further the accessibility of our

Sunday mornings to people other than the present congregation.

John writes columns for the Bath Chronicle and Baptist Times. He is Baptist Chaplain to both Bath Spa and Bath universities. He is Moderator of the West of England Association Executive and the
Baptist Union's Ministerial Recognition Committee.
He regularly works with churches exploring how they can develop their prayer life.

He believes that both he and this church need to proclaim Jesus as the Son of God who lived by compassion and justice. He believes this is a vision that touches the longings of people who live in our streets and community and moves them to see exciting possibilities for themselves and our society in the Christian way of life.
